I am trying to find someone that is a school nurse and completed their MSN Capstone. I was trying to start my MSN for Nursing Education at WGU but I am not sure how? I called the school and was told that I had to find a nursing education facility that would let me complete my Capstone and field experience part there. Is that true? We live in a rural area that is at least over an hour away from the closest nursing education facility. Any help from my school nurse friends? Or am I stuck at BSN level?

What state are you in? I know we hold lab/ sim on the weekends as do many other schools? What about summer? What about a school where your calendar's spring break is not the university's? There are lots of ways to make this work.

I did my MSN in education through WGU. I was able to use my school because I was enrolled before they made the changes. I had to have a waiver signed since the changes were going into effect as I was entering that portion of the program.
I'm not an expert on it but I'll give you my experience! Your preceptor will probably not play a big role. So if it's an hour away, you may only need to go there once to do a sort of interview and decide what your capstone project will be. Then your preceptor needs to sign off on that. They don't really play any role other than that (in my experience but the courses change pretty frequently).
Feel free to PM me if you want more info.

I started the WGU MSN Education program and then stopped after 4 classes / 6mos.
From speaking with my advisor directly, they made it sound like it would be a great effort to work around. Finishing my M.Ed at a different school now and will start my MSN at my current school once done. WGUs price tag and 'own pace' schedule sold me on it, but I know 2 CSNs that have pulled out after the first 6 months to go elsewhere in the last year. We are all excellent online learners (all my degrees past ASN have been online) so I'm hesitant to recommend it based on consistent recent experiences.
The people I know who have been successful and enjoyed WGU have been prior to many of the changes they've had in very recent years.
