Is Saunders the Gold Standard?

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

I have been using Saunders since I started school, mostly as a gauge of how well I am prepared for a test. I always average above 70%, usually above 80%, even doing questions cold (no studying).

This semester my program has us doing assigned questions from Lippincotts Q&A, and I am doing terribly (55-65% on most sections). I've been getting As & Bs on my school exams, and combined with how I do on Saunders, I'm stumped as to why I do so poorly on the Lippincott questions.

So, since obviously the goal is to pass NCLEX, should I take it as a good sign that I can do well with Saunders questions? Should I be concerned about my performance with Lippincotts?

In my opinion I believe they both are very similiar but Saunders is easy to understand they both test your knowledge of the material at a high standard but Saunders is better. Lippincott is a book that can make you confused in my opinion but I do love Saunders neither book is easy. They both cover the same content just in different styles. It all depends on your style of learning and grasping the information. Good luck studying!

Most people swear by Saunders. I would use whichever book works for you in terms of ease of understanding. You can use just one resource or as many as you can afford. It's up to you and well worth the investment once you pass.

some people did not pass nclex rn using it......me included...so

Hi Ira - Sorry to hear that...
