Does anyone know if the psych NP is going to be replaced with DNP? I'm in Florida and they're saying DNP will replace MSN/NP in 2014...at least I believe in other specialities. thanks for any input!:)

A university in my area is reportedly going to stop offering the Masters program and only do DNP. :(

The people who are pushing the DNP agenda are pushing it for all advanced practice specialties, inc. all "flavors" of NPs.

However, it is still a proposal, not a requirement.

To me, the DNP idea makes me sad. To gain the status of an MD or PhD, we must set the bar in the same range. From what I've seen, DNP requirements are far less demanding, and no one will be fooled - we already parade too many letters after our names that impress no one outside of nursing, and lessen our credibility. There's no such thing as a free lunch. You have to do the work to gain the status - no short cut will be effective.
