Is it possible to retake a class?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Hello Allnurses.com,

My name is Steve and this is my first post here. I'm glad I stumbled across this site. Anyhow, I'm currently taking my pre-clinical sequence in nursing at my community college. I just completed my first semester and got a D+ in my psychology. My question is, am I allowed to retake that class to improve my grade and GPA or am I forced to settle with the D+? If so, how does that work? I hope someone can help me some info.

Thank you.

the answer to your question lies not with us but with your registrar. ask there and see what they tell you. your nursing program may not accept a d+ so you may have to take it again anyway. hang in!

Check with your school, I got a C in A&P and retook it for a B so I could get into nursing school.

The school where I did my pre-reqs allowed retakes, but there is an * next to the class on the transcript indicating that I retook the class, so then it is up to the school I transferred into if they would also take the retake, which they did.

Each school is different you need to check with them

With most schools you may repeat a course to bring up your grade BUT, how it generally works is that the D+ never completely goes away -- it will be averaged into your GPA. So, if you plan to retake it push for an A! Like I said this is generally how it goes but talk to a counselor in your school to be sure. Lotsa luck to you! :)
