While in college to become an RN? I want to start nursing as soon as I can so I was thinking that I might want to become an LNA first. I am currently In high school and was planning on going to get my ASN at a community college then going to another college and get My BSN (Becoming a Neonatal nurse is my main goal.). So I was wondering if there was a way to Become a LNA while or before going to college so I can start working and get some experience as well, while going to nursing school. Sorry if This Is a Confusing question. Thanks:)
Yes, becoming an LNA has very good advantages while in nursing school. I do see the benefit to being a CNA/LNA prior to being a nurse. I was not a CNA before a nurse and think my intro to the field into was a little bit harder due to that. I'd never touched a patient, was totally unfamiliar with the nursing environment, had trouble just simply communicating with pt's, time management.. etc. There are a lot of skills pertinent to nursing that a CNA learns that people working in other fields just don't!
I just recently learned that Idaho has a Nurses Apprentice level (I know there is a license involved, so maybe it's LNA?) of nursing. What was explained to me is that it's a small step up from what a Nurse Aid can do, and it's for RN students (maybe other students too) that have at least their first semester completed. I can't say much more than that as I just learned about it from my adviser. :)

That's exactly what I'm doing, I have been a CNA for six months, working in a nursing home. I was lucky to find a nursing home, that offered free training and a job. I'm looking into Nursing Schools, and they have asked if I have experience. It will open your eyes if you really want to get into health care field. Good Luck!
