Is it polite to see the nurse manager directly for a job?

I had a thread going on here about how I left 4 voicemails to the nurse manager to check on the status of my application, but I did not get a return-call back. After reading some of the replies, it was getting to the point of overkill leaving all those messages, so I thought I should just let it go. I've already applied for many positions here in my city (there are only 3 major hospitals-i live in a small city) and it is getting nerve-wrecking just having to sit and wait. I had my preceptorship on the floor for the position I am applying for (the one with the voicemails), but I never visited the nurse manager directly (I worked during nights) during my preceptorship. Would it be wrong to just drop-by and ask if there are any openings available (One of my patients has an appointment to the same hospital I applied at-I worked at an assisted living facility)? Or would this be a big no-no and result in me being banned from getting any nursing job from this hospital:uhoh21:

There is nothing wrong with you stopping by and introducing yourself to the unit manager. I did that shortly after I applied, and it helped land me a job. It would be a good idea if you took a copy of your resume and cover letter.

If this is the same NM for whom you've left several voicemails without a response, I would hesitate to just drop in -- it might be a bit much. Just my opinion, of course.

Agreed! But if its not just drop on in. I did and it landed me the job.
