While I am taking nursing pre-reqs, I was thinking of doing an online clinical medical assistant program. It's about 6 months and I was told that the school helps you find an externship.
I dont know how I would go about learning to draw blood or do other patient care related things just from watching videos .
Have any of you guys heard of this online program? Any experience with such thing? Any thoughts? Please let me know.

Hi sfwant2beRN, to answer your question, I would first wonder why you would spend the time and money on a Medical Assistant program with an externship in Medical Assisting if your goal is to become an RN? The two jobs have some crossover in the area of skills, but otherwise, they are significantly different.
Putting that point aside for a minute, as a general rule with any for-profit program, it's best to regard their information as a sales pitch, not a promise.
My own opinion is that you can learn the "step by step" by watching a video and once on the job you'll be learning how to perform skills pertinent to your specific job specialty and where your first demonstration is on a real patient. Hope that helps a little! Best wishes to you!
