My manager is nice and considerate of needs of others. She makes me feel at home and comfortable on floor with her useful advice and guidance. I feel like giving her little gift as a note of thanks but am worried what other fellow nurses might think ? I am not flashing the gift infront of their eyes but what if somebody sees it ? There is lot of politics on our floor involved with some old nurses.

If you feel like giving a gift, then give a gift. I always get my supervisor something on boss's day. Who cares what anyone else thinks its none of their business. Another nurse had questioned me before when she saw me giving our supervisor a gift. I told her well she is our boss and its boss's day so she gets a gift. no need to even explain yourself.

One gift a year on Boss's Day is not the same thing as going in every day with a latte and a donut that you paid for, or taking in a bag of the testers each time you get a new shipment of Avon catalogs, or giving her a set of precious pearls on her birthday and tickets for two to the next Mets game. Don't let what others say deter your good intentions.

It's okay to give a gift when there's an occasion. Don't mind what other co-workers would say about you giving a gift to your manager-----but also don't show them and let them know either that you gave her a gift-----afterall, it's none of their business.

I would give a gift but not let anyone know.
