Is NJ not new grad friendly?

Published

Almost a year now, the NJ-NY area does not seem to be interested in new grads. This bloody word experience shows up everywhere in requirements and I can't even get past HR screening processes. How many hospitals have shut down within the past 3 years?!

I should have just majored in something else.

totally blows.. i have 4 years of experience in subacute/ltc (as an lpn and rn).. the hospitals want nothing to do with me.. and sallie mae is calling me everyday... i even applied to hospitals an hour away from where i live... no dice..

I am in your shoes and i feel your pain nobody want new nurse without experience;i guess experience comes from the snow storms and tons of applications we filled with no call....:confused::crying2::down:

I can totally relate. Finished in December with honors, got my NCLEX done immediately. Thought I had all types of contacts lined up who could help me in. Been applying for months with not even one call or email back. On recent count I've applied to more than 100 jobs and up to 1.5 hour commute from my house. I've gotten over 70 rejection emails so far. Even applied to PA jobs but that is an even longer wait becuase of the out of state license issue. Can I really go from graduation to unemployment? Anyone have any advice. And please don't say nursing homes or LTC because I've tried this route already too. What is the problem? Is it the cost of all the first year of training? I would get a loan out to pay for my own first year of trainig. There are tons of jobs out there but no love for the new grad. Any advice? Anyone......

I also graduated in Dec. with honors and very good GPA. Got my license in Feb. I applied so many places and haven't got a single call back. So devastating. HR did not pick up my phone calls and they didn't return my calls either when I left a message. I really do not know where else can I find a job. If somebody knows where we new grads can find a job, please let us know!!
