This girl who didn't even go to college or to nursing school told me that the NCLEX was easy and nursing was easy. Her comments really bother me and I was wondering what I should say to her or how I should handle this because it's consuming a lot of my time. THANKS!!!

WHY is this consuming a lot of your time? Who cares what some silly girl thinks? Why would you put more than a single second's thought into whether she's right or wrong? This sounds like something I'd expect from a fourth grader, honestly.
If you hold a BSN like your ID says then you know that nursing school wasn't easy. The NCLEX isn't easy either. If this is a friend of yours she's jealous and ignore it if you want to keep her friendship. If she isn't a friend of yours, walk away.

If said person didn't go to college or nursing school, then exactly what frame of reference does said person even had to make such a statement? Ignore it and move on.
I blocked her and left it alone. I think she is just jealous because she said that nurses don't make that much money. She doesn't work, she lives off of SSI and she never went to college. I don't even know why I gave her the time of day. She honestly needs to go look in the mirror because her insecurities lie within herself.
It bothered me so much because I have taken the NCLEX RN 5 times and I have my BSN and another degree. For someone who doesn't know crap about nursing or college to tell me to my face that the NCLEX or nursing is "easy" is stupid. I know it's something stupid to be mad about, but if you haven't passed the test - it's not really that stupid.

If she says the NCLEX was easy and Nursing was easy why won't she put her behind in college and take pre-reqs and get into a Nursing Program? Second, how would she know that Nurses don't make a a lot of money? I agree with the other replies just let her live her life of no working, living off SSI and not going to college.

Well, since she didn't go to college/university, hasn't studied nursing, and hasn't taken the NCLEX, she clearly doesn't know what she doesn't know. She's probably quite happy living on SSI. You, on the other hand, quite likely make more than she does.
That being said, if she thinks that nursing is easy, the NCLEX is easy, perhaps she should take up nursing. Oh, that would involve doing work (even if it's "school work") and she likely detests doing any such thing.
That, or she could decide to become a physician because it's actually difficult.
If I could give you two that last said something a thousand "likes", I would. Your comments are very true and hit the nail on the head. She needs to stop putting others down who actually have degrees and are making a living without the help of the govt. I thought nursing was the hardest thing I've ever done in my life and I've played vball at a very high level (played club vball for 7 years). I also have another degree....so, I have done very 'hard' things in my life before to compare nursing to. I have also ran a very successful business that made multi millions a year for 10 years. Nursing is still by far, the hardest thing I've ever done!!!
She's too busy sitting at home on the govt's dollar and raising kids while she is running her mouth to her more successful friends. I honestly think she has a jealousy issue. She also told me to trash my two degrees. That didn't bother me, I just ignored it. She is just disrespectful.
I think she needs to get off of her booty and try to go to nursing school. I think she would fail because I went to middle school with her and she did not have good grades. I doubt she would even pass the pre-req's to get into nursing school to be honest. I think she needs to worry about herself and her own life before she goes judging others.
I'm in my last term of my LVN program and I've even thought to myself "How did I make it this far?". I certainly did not think it was easy. I struggled all through Maternity last term and that was rough. I never considered nursing at all because I scared that I would not do well or even make it through. But look at me now, I decided to put my fears aside and "do it". You are doing a wise thing of ignoring her. Lastly, if it was that easy then students would pass the NCLEX on their first try 100% of the time but nope. There are students that don't pass until their 3rd or 5th time. There's proof on this website as well. Do what I do: I ignore them and I keep going because in the end the license will have my name on it not another person's name.
Congrats jtboy29 on completing your LPN program. I struggled through every test and every class in nursing school. I was always wondering if I would "pass" the class with a 75% in order to continue with the program. It was def. a struggle and far from 'easy'. I went thru an accelerated program and that made it even more difficult. Nursing is over tons of information and they expect you to know it word for word or else you will get the questions wrong. They want you to know EVERYTHING and they want you to know more than the doctors (in my opinion). Doctors only take one course on nutrition and yet we are expected to know every food to eat for every disease or disorder. I doubt doctors have to know all of that on nutrition. It's proven in their curriculum and you can ask every dietitian out there if doctors know their stuff on nutrition. They will all tell you the same thing and that's NO WAY. I can't believe I made it this far, but I plan on finishing and getting my license. Nursing is the opposite of easy and I think if you haven't done it - you have no idea what you are talking about. There are tons of people who do not pass on their first try - look at all the studying they do! It's just a slap in the face when someone tells you that it's easy when you have failed many times!!!
Thank you kristibelle. I'm taking my Exit HESI exam I think in the end of November or December. I'm nervous but excited at the same time. Nursing is definitely not for the faint of heart because anyone will get their butt kicked in the program. Lots of self-doubt, emotions, stress, struggling, etc. But every nursing student has done it and have made it worth it.
