I live in the US and have been trying to get into a nursing program, but I am having problems
because it is too competitive.
My question was regarding an international nursing degree. I was planning on going to India to obtain my BSN degree.
After I have completed my studies in India (4year program) would america recognise my Indian
bachelor degree if i take and pass the NCLEX-RN test in America, or would I have to take extra courses once I return?

If you received a nursing degree overseas, you would need to submit an application through the Council for Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS) after you completed the program. CGFNS will evaluate your ability to sit for the NCLEX-RN examination.
Most international nurses I have encountered indicate that it may take up to 2 years until CGNFS approved your application to take NCLEX.

i had my degree in the Philippines but i am an immigrant here in the US. i applied for CA BOARD. i just submitted all the requirements needed to them like my school records. i did not go to CGFNS. my application was approved and i had taken the nclex.
i believe, if you are here in the US as tourist, not as an immigrant or citizen, your documents will be submitted to CGFNS for evaluation. Further, some states also required that school records will be evaluated to an accredited institution before they will approve your application.
Try to google the board of nursing sites of the state you wish to take your boards so you will be guided accordingly.
