I don't know the legality but I think it isn't proper. If the MD orders are for patient care, the patient needs to be there for a proper visit. Even if not billed, how do you document it as not being outside of MD orders? It's still a visit if you touch the patient's meds even if non billable, right?

Is it illegal to do a med prefill for the week if the patient isn't present?? A family member was, patient was suppose to be... We didn't log it as a visit so the company won't get paid for it by insurance.. But I am still getting paid by the company... As I was leaving the disaster the patient showed up.. But I left regardless. The patient didn't have enough pills set up for the weekend so if it wasn't done today, there was no one to do it tomorrow. Just a big confusing situation.. Just wondering if that is legal to do as a RN? There is no insurance fraud or anything.. but it just seems odd.
