I made the transition!

Worked 11 months in adult SNF/LTC, then did 2 years in a pediatric SNF/LTC, and have now been for the last 6 months working peds acute care. It can be done.

Update: I relocated and received two job offers in med/surg after 3 yrs in LTC!

It took me from 2007 to 2013 to get in from snf

ugh - I don't know what to believe now... my dream is to work in Med-Surge but I got an offer in LTC. I didn't want to be picky in this job market so I accepted. But my heart lives in med-surge as the foundation for my career... what to do, what to do...

Keep trying. At least ltc has some skills but more regulations

Sometimes it's not what you know its WHO you know(referrals and sh**). Sad but true.
