Hey Everyone!
I am a student reporter at Syracuse University and I am doing a story for class about nurses. My story idea comes from an idea I came up with after talking to some of my friends who just graduated from nursing school in Atlanta. They are having a hard time finding a position there and I was just wondering if this is a common problem now. Specifically, I am looking for someone in the Central New York area who either is having a hard time finding a job as a nurse, or decided to come to Central New York because it is a less competitive market than some of the bigger cities. So, is anyone either A.) in one of these situations or B.) knows someone in one of these situations. It would really help me out. Thanks so much!

I live in Northern NY, and have noticed that a lot of the new grads think they will walk into a day job. Back when I graduated, the instructors were pretty frank about the fact that we would have to pay our dues and work the night shift, or off shifts. Now the newbies think they can walk into a 9-5 M-F day job, and that is their due!
There are jobs in NY. you may have to work a job you don't exactly want to spend the next 30 years in, but you may need that kind of job to get the experience needed to land your dream job.
Thanks CathyLew,
Do you know if any of these new grads are coming from big cities or any cities outside of the Northern NY area?

I live in NYC and it is definitely hard to find a job right now. If you do land one, it'll probably be something you may not exactly want to do. The only people I know that got jobs are one's with connection or was looking before they even graduated.
Most of my classmates were from Long Island and like I said there were some that got jobs because they did their senior practicuum there or had connections.
So, if you don't mind me asking... have you been able to find a job in the city?
Thanks IcanHealYou...
