Is my GPA to low for Darton College Nursing Program

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Hello...I want to get into darton college nursing program in Albany, ga. My GPA is at a 2.7 right now. I still have Microbiology (I have to retake that), American government, U.S. History, and pharmacology to take. I just reapplied to the nursing program. All applications are due by September 15, 2010. The first time I took the HESI exam I made a 66% on it without studying. Does your Hesi score have to be really high to get in Darton college? What is the average score? I am retaking it on October 5th. Do anyone know the lowest hesi and GPA score darton has taken? I really want to get in this time around. And does anyone know what I can study for the HESi exam? Thanks!

Hello Guys!!! i applied to Darton for spring and summer and got in both times but i live in atlanta and work full time so i couldn't go.... I've reapplied for the hybrid and hopefully i get in...

My Hesi score was 78 and trust me the same things in the HSEI book is on the test especially the vocabulary section the math is really easy you should target that to boost your score...My GPA at the time was 3.0 and i got in so hopefully we'll all be classmates next spring !!!!

What about the a&p section did you use any outside sources for studying besides the hesi book? I'm so orried about that part in particular.

amongst all the sections the science section was a bit difficult for me because really didnt have enough time to prepare and it wasnt the same as the questions in the book it was more broad and general a&p ... I only used the hesi book to prepare for it and i applied to 2 schools and each school required i take the hesi with them regardless of my score...so i took it twice....The same questions came again as i said the math is the easiest then the vocabulary is all in the book so cram the words and the sample questions because you will see them again , the reading part isn't that difficult at all I think each paragraph has 5 questions you answer...If you do really well on your math and english and even if you dont do too well on the science you will still have a high composite score and that will get you in..

I finally got my card and I take my HESI tomorrow...I'm kinda nervous, but excited as well!

I think we all will do great! I will post on Monday my results! Good luck to all

By the way I take my test the 4th of dis month!

I just got back home from my test this morning and I'm glad it's over. My composite score was an 84.73, which is okay I guess...A&P I got a 72, but it's only 30 questions...I took A&P I&II last year in one semester, and I totally blanked out because I was so nervous, so overall I guess that was okay. Math, grammar, vocab, and reading comprehension were as expected and I pretty much aced those. I'm nervous because I didn't get a score as high as I'd have liked to, but those are the breaks. My only advice is to take a deep breath and relax because your nerves will cause you to blank out. Patiently waiting for my acceptance or denial, but wishing you all the best of luck! Hopefully we'll see each other in class this spring.

So ur overall score was a 84? How was the vocabulary? U did greeat! I heard they let ppl in as low as a 72

Wow!!! That makes me feel better. The vocab is both medical terminology and just huge synonyms for the simplest words. The study guide is useful for that subject. A&P was broad and has questions about the inner ear as to how it functions and what part is responsible for hearing things of that nature, and why kids are prone to ear infections due to the actual development of the ear. No chemistry or biology because they aren't required, so if you studied that put your efforts elsewhere. The study guide was useful for the vocab, grammar, math, and comprehension. It was a guide for the A&P, but it's so broad that there is no way to anticipate what could be in 30 questions, but the more I read the forums pretty much everyone had about the same questions. Know the basic structure of the heart with respect to which valve is where. Also know how oxygen and carbon dioxide are transported through the body with respect to cells. Know the parts of the ear and the types of muscles like where a certain muscle would be found. (the major ones.) Know directions and planes. Know your major arteries and where they would be found. In hindsight the test really had the major A&P stuff not too much details. I hope that this helps. Good luck on Monday! You'll do fine!!!!!
