Is it frowned upon to take prerequisites at an online university?

Published

Hello, everyone. I am considering taking perquisites such as general Chemistry, organic chem, and intro to physics at American Military University since I am a veteran. It is a a private for profit college but has a great flexibility with my work schedule at the ICU. Would this negatively impact my chances to get in? I am also considering more well known college extensions such as UC Berkeley, UC San Diego, John Hopkins, and University of New England. I did complete my BSN at a public university university here in California. Thanks for any input.

I have never heard that it is frowned upon. I am not familiar with American Military University but have been taking classes at a number of the other schools that you reference. All those UC extension schools actually do both online and in person, and then the transcript doesn't say whether or not it was online or in person. UNE and Johns Hopkins too. One that I am pretty sure is an all online school is Portage. That one I have heard some schools may not accept credits from but I think that is the only one of the commonly named ones in the CSPA community on FB that gets iffy.

Good luck! Thank you for your service. I'm sure you know, but in case not, National University was founded by veterans and they have an amazing program. And  if you were interested, the CRNA programs that are associated with the military are free and pay a stipend while you attend in exchange for service.

Vet here. I doubt they will care but AMU is the typical check the box degree mill just an FYI. Prepare to teach yourself.
