Okay so as I finish up my gen ed requirements and start to begin nursing classes I have wondered, in 2015 I heard a DNP will be required to become a NP, crna,et. I wanted to be a CRNA so I was planing on getting a MSN after I was all settled on my BSN, nclex and etc. But if a DNP is going to be required by 2015(which is when I graduate) will I be better of getting a MD? All that work ill put in getting a DNP will almost be the same as getting a MD since the DNP is a doctorate program. Originally I wanted to become a physician but after receiving a 3.3 GPA I was advised to switch majors. I took up to gen chem II and calc which is NOT required by my school as a nursing major. So anyways what now? Continue on the nursing track and be forced to get my DNP or stay strong fight for 6 more years of schooling and all the MD stuff and become a physician?

There is no requirement by any organization, either certifying agency or state board of nursing mandating a doctorate degree for entry to practiceasan APN. The American Association of NurseAnesthetists has endorsed requiring a doctorate degree for entry to practice by 2025, however they are the only group to do so.
