Is it difficult to win scholarships?

Published

Hi everyone! I need 6k to cover the rest of my tuition Im going to an out of state school and tuition is high which is understandable. Has anyone ever applied or won any scholarships? I don't mean scholarships only pertaining to nursing, but scholarships for any major. I hear that scholarships go unawarded every year because people dont apply for scholarships.

I was awarded a scholarship last year for $1500, and that was on top of my pell grant so that money was extra for me. I'm not sure of their criteria-each one will be different and have different requirements.

I also was awarded a scholarship for slightly over $40K when I was considering undergraduate programs. I completed a paper application (this was in the mid-90s) for a science scholarship and walked out with a presidential (top) scholarship. I think the fact that all applicants had to meet with 2 interviewers really helped set me apart from the pack.

I recently completed nearly 15 scholarships for my ADN program and honestly feel that I don't have a chance of winning even one. There are no interviews and my community college GPA is not a 4.0.

Unless you know the criteria used by each institution for awarding particular scholarships, it's really a tough call.

What are some good places to look to apply for scholarships??
