Believe me, we did not identify with the South AT ALL, where I grew up in MD. We definitely thought of Southerners as a different breed no matter how close we were to the Mason-Dixon line. WORLDS of difference between how people conduct themselves in MD and GA and I can honestly say, I prefer the South. Blacks and whites get along great where I live and work, for the most part. What racism I do note is usually from the older generation.
