Hi all,

I am from Frankston, on the Mornington Peninsula in South East Victoria, Australia.

Does anyone know of a course here that teaches about nursing in a 3rd world country? My husband & I and our 2 daughters are considering moving to India in a year or so & I think that I need to do something like this to feel prepared/confident to work over there.

Thanks, in advance, for any info that you all might have...

You should actually consider taking courses in Indian culture and their health care system. There are loads of documentaries that discuss these and public health initiatives in India

It might help to take a multicultural nursing class. We had one in my undergrad program. In order to learn about nursing and health care systems in other countries, as well as Spanish language, I'm doing a study abroad program in Costa Rica as an elective in my M.S. of Nursing Education program.

Thanks guys:)

What I'm wondeing is if there is a course around specifically designed for people wanting to nurse in a 3rd world country, so going into the specific skills needed etc.

I actually lived in India for years and travel back there regularly, so am very familiar with the country/culture & know a bit about the healthcare system...but would like to feel more confident about what skills I might require etc. A fellow nurse at work said she had heard of a course like this, but didn't know the name of it or who ran it, so I thought I'd try on this site...
