Is there any chance that I can not be licensed even I pass the NCLEX?

Published

i took the nclex on last friday and found that my grade is "pass" on www.pearsonvue.com/nclex. i called new mexico board of nurse to ask how long i should wait to receive the official result and the license.

i was told that i have to wait for about two to four weeks. the board will review the report and then decide if i can be licensed. the lady told me that a pass won't guarantee a license.

i thought that a pass grade would guaranttee a license. so i was very happy to know that i passed! now i begin to worry about the license. i passed the nclex with 265 items. so my performance was not be very good. i am really concerned if the board will think i am not good enough and won't grant me the license.

is there anybody who ever heard that some people was not licensed even passed the nclex?

thank you so much for any information!!!!

Ok, thanks for clearing that up. That would really be a shame to go through nursing school and the NCLEX and not be licensed. I guess if you have a questionable past, it is best to get approval from the local state board before starting nursing school.

You hit it right on the head. This is what we always recommend, and what should be done and what the BONs actually say to do.

Always best to get their input as they are the ones that will issue the license, and each case is reviewed on its own merit.

Thanks you all!!

I just found that I was issued the license by the Board two weeks after I passed the exam.
