I'm a foreign RN (graduated in the Philippines) and now a permanent resident currently living in Wisconsin. I've enrolled for a CP (Certification Program) under CGFNS and I've been scheduled for a CGFNS exam on November. From what I understand, CP means taking the CGFNS exam and an English proficiently test (IELTS/TOEFL) in order to obtain a CGFNS certificate.
Is there any way I can bypass the English exam since I'm already living here in Wisconsin? I've been trying to get in touch with the DSPS but I've been just passed around and ended up leaving useless voice mails. Who's going to decide about the bypassing of English test, the BON or the CGFNS (since they're the one issuing the certificate in the first place)?
Also, to utilize my waiting time for all of these nursing stuff, I've applied to DSPS for a CNA certification. I've contacted the Pearson Vue about the eligibility route which means DSPS just has to check and verify my RN license so I can take the CNA certification exam.

Only do the CGFNS exam if you really have to because the state requires it. Most states just require CES report from CGFNS and as long as you meet requirements the state will give eligibility to sit NCLEX. IELTS will need to be done, if the state requires it, before eligibility will be given or even the state looking at your file
I wanted to know, for the CGFNS certification program, (planning to apply in Indiana) the verification of english proficiency would be inclusive of the TOEFL test or do we need to enroll and pass TOEFL exams separately?ply

You need to check the Board of Nursing website and check out requirements for International Educated Nurse. Only a handful of states require CGFNS exam so only do it if you have to do it

hi kirstine, i am a foreign educated nurse( tibetan) from India. i came to kentucky on fiance visa and will get married soon. i am about to start my kentucky BON RN licensure process. i am also confused as to what and how to start the process. I did a little research on it. So, i am going to start this way:
# Start the visa screening process - sending transcripts from india and validation of india RN licensure
# Meanwhile, prepare for IELTS academic module and give the exam in two months time.
# Once i get my ssn, apply for finger print,
#Apply for Kentucky BON- i am confused when to fill up the Kentucky RN licensure form- after cgfns notify kentucky BON???? if you have any idea on this please let me know.
#Apply Pearson vue for NCLEX once all the above things are done.
# Iam not sure when to give the jurisprudence exam- let me know if you have any idea on this.
