Is it bad to retract your job offer?

Hi! So I was offered a job at Hospital A and am now in the process of paperwork. I am scheduled for orientation in April and was told that I will sign the letter this week. However, I just received a call today from a recruiter from Hospital B (which I wished to work and is my top choice on my job search list) that she will fwd my resume and schedule an interview. So the scenario is... if I get a possible interview with Hospital B and it all goes well ...and they end up giving me an offer.... assuming that this will all happen before April.... is it bad to retract Hospital A's offer? Has anyone done this before? How should I inform Hospital A if I really made the decision ? And also, it can be very risky if everything is up in the air.

Can you put off signing papers with Hospital A until you meet with Hospital B??? Maybe it could be a simple phone call saying that you have an unexpected appointment and can you come in to sign papers on xyz day? If you have the warm fuzzies for B and you already had clinical there, chances are you'll get your answer from them fairly quick. What a tough place to be in, but I am glad to see that you have two to choose from, when some nurses have none! Way to go :) Good Luck, keep us posted on what happens! :) Ivanna

so my situation was... i graduated in june 2009 and it was really tough for new grads to get a job (which is still the same since I haven't seen any new job postings lately). I went on a few interviews with other hospitals previously and they had told me 1) there are no open positions 2) I was not experienced enough

and so finally in January, Hospital A called me in for an interview and offered me a position. I was excited and expressed interest (worrying that I may not have such an opportunity in the next few months with this tight market right now). But now that i'm in the process of paperwork with hospital A, Hospital B calls me !!! Sigh.

why couldnt they call me last yr? hehehe
