I’m looking for a new job currently. One hospital has two different jobs I’m interesting in, PACU and ICU. I meet there criteria for what they are looking for in both jobs. But does it look bad to apply for both? Should I choose one I’m more interested in?

If you've got no bird in your hand, it's better to go for the two in the bush, even when they're in the same bush.
Metaphorically speaking, nznurse.

@EDNURSE20 I am in a similar situation. Did you apply and or interview for both? What did you end up doing after all?

I can only imagine they would be upset if the hospital was a toxic work place to begin with. It never hurts to increase your odds.
Good luck.?

I ended up applying for 3 jobs at that hospital, ICU PACU ED, and got offered a interview for all 3! Was very surprised, applied for 6 hospitals, 9 different job and got offered 7 interviews. Luckily I got offered a job after my first interview at anither hospital. I decided to take it because I had so much going on at the time, not having to fit in more interviews was such a relief and also I was keen to move away.

WOW! amazing! Eventually I have to make a choice and I don't want to make the wrong one.
Are you happy you took the job with the first interview? Any regrets on not pursuing the rest of the interviews? How did you go about turning the rest down after making your choice; especially the ones from the same hospital?

The job I took, I had only apply to that job at the hospital. For interviews I turned down I just sent an email to HR thanking them for the opportunity, but I will no longer be interviewing as I had accepted a job at xxx.
as for the job I took I am glad I accepted it. It’s on the other side of the country, so it’s nice being somewhere new. I’m a massive traveller so I like exploring new places and being alone Doesn’t phase me. I never stay in the one place for too long.
however I’ve learnt ED isn’t for me. I’m giving it more time because I know it will look good for future jobs and I know I have more to learn in this area. It’s had already taught me that I much prefer smaller, semi rural hospitals, and gynaecology and peds nursing. I will go into one of those areas when I’m ready for a change again.
While ED isn’t for me, I don’t hate my job and I’m glad I did it, because if I hadn’t I would of always thought what if.
