Is anyone having trouble finding a good assignment out west?

Published

I have been looking for a decent ICU assignment since the beginning of Decemeber. Mostly the areas I am interested in are AZ, CO, NM, and CA. I am working with Trinity and Cirrus, and, so far, they don't have any good assignments to offer. I was told that the economy has hurt the travel nursing industry and that it should pick back up. However, I want to be traveling by Feb. and wondering if I should find a larger agency. Does any one have any comments, thoughts, or advice? Much appreciated!

I was having the same problem, started looking c three smaller companies in nov. Wasn't having any luck so one of my recruiters reccomended another recruiter who was a friend of hers c a large company. Had a job within 24hrs of signing on and am on assignment in CO now. Try a few more companies, I think that, plus flexibility is what it takes in these tough times. My job now isn't ideally what I wanted but its a start. Goodluck.

What was the larger company you went with for your job? Right now I am signed on with NHS and Onward Healthcare. I am thinking I may need more than just them. I'm not to picky about where I go.

I have signed with Onward and they can't find me SQUAT...all they do is call and I say submit...and then nothing. I don't think traveling may be for me.

I tried to sgn up with Onward- I'm tele med/surg. they submitted me for a Pccu with vents and vasoactive drip titration in a university level 1 trauma center. I asked why I didn't get the contract and asked them to read me the description of the contract and that is what was written. They wanted more of an ICU nurse. Don't these companies even read the details of the position? What are the credentials of these recruiters, do they know the difference between tele, PCCU/IMU and ICU. They can't be nurses? How is it beneficial to them to lie to someone- tell someone there is work when there isn't. Don't they realize nurses have bills too? What is the problem? does anyone have any thoughts?
