I am going to be starting Nursing school in August at LMU, at the St.Mary's site. Just wanted to see if there was anyone else out there as well.
Can you tell me exactly how many semesters it will take to complete Rn program at LMU? When do they set up advising sessions and what is discussed during that time? I only need the nursing core classes-already have pre-req's and would also like to know how they set up the class schedules for someone like myself that only needs the nursing courses. Also, how many days a week per semester--Thanks for any info you might have time to give to the future LMU students.
It will take 4 semesters to finish your Associates Degree at LMU. Advising sessions are held at the end of every semester. You will talk about how your classes are going, and you will schedule your next semester. For new nursing students, they will have a big orientation--(should be soon), where they will tell you about the school ,and what to expect in the program. The nursing schedule is the same for all students. If you have all pre-reqs done, then you will only be taking nursing classes. For the first semester you will be in class one day a week, and clinical one day a week. For every semester after that you will have class 2 days/week, clinical 2days/week.
Uhmm..You should be able to get the math book from their book store, or you can order it offline. You need to get it though and start working on that math. You will have a math quiz (every semester) during the first week of class that you have to make an 80 or better or your out.
I hope this is helpful guys
I think there was only a few people that had CNA experience. In reality, that will only help you the first semester--after that you will be doing more than a CNA can do. I don't really think dental experience is gonna give you an advantage--maybe with being around patients? As long as you do your readings, and study you should be fine.

Ok..bunch of questions--lets see: like I said I do not know how the schedule is at Alcoa--but at the Knoxville site in 115, we went 2 days/week. One was a lecture day and one was a clinical/lab day. If I remember correclty we went on Mondays and Fridays. After first semester, you will be going 4 days/week. Two lecture days and 2 clinical days. If you want to progress in this nursing program I HIGHLY advise that you do chapters 1-10 in the med math book. There will be a math quiz (every semester) during the first week of class. You get two chances and if you do not make an 80, you fail the course. And, we actually lost 2 people because of this!!!!! AFter the acceptance letter, just hang out..and do your med-math. You should be getting a letter soon for oreientation, it will be a packet and will provide a lot more info. The math book you guys used sounds pretty much like our Henke's med-math..it is the fifth edition. I am not sure about what you have to have completed before actual nursing classes, because I had all of my pre-reqs done--however I do have classmates now who are taking micro, and a&p..It will take you (if you pass on the first try) 4 semesters to finish the nursing courses, and LMU sets the study schedule when it comes to nursing classes! I hope this helps lemme know if you have any other questions!
