Is anyone here in the Brookdale Community College nursing program?

Published

What are some things that you can tell me about it? Is it hard? Are the teachers good? Do you learn alot? HESI? And anything else you can tell me about the program. ThAnX iN AdvanCe!

I recently graduated form the BCC nursing program(Dec. 2008) and I can tell you that it is a hard as you make it. I mean you have to study, listen in class, attend all classes and ask questions when in doubt. The nursing educators are ALL very knowledgable, some are tougher than others, some are better at the teaching process than others, and some are so good at teaching that it is a pleasure to be in their class, but one thing that they all have in common is going out of their way to help you succeed. Every staff member including the Lab nurses are there to help you succeed all you need to do is ask. As far as learning alot, you learn more than you possible think you could in 2 years.

As for the HESI there are 3 one is the Psych test, then there is the mid curricular HESI and than the exit HESI. The Psych HESI is not that hard if you listen and read, but you have to study, study, study for the mid curricular and the exit HESI.

Let me know if you already started the program because if you didn't I can tell you more about what to do first.

Well.... I am currently finishing up my prereq's, but I have many questions about the nursing program at Brookdale....How long did it take for you to get into the program, any advice on what to use to study for the hesi, did they have any study groups....I have other questions, i won't overwhelm you with too much, but if you wouldn't mind me asking just tell me....You dont know how long I had this question posted and noone answered...It was like I was the only one in Brookdale...Thanks...I hope you can help me..

hello,

i attend brookdale community college and took the NET in Jan and passed, and now im just waiting to get an invite to the info session which im told will be end of June early July. then ill be on the list! from that point it is just a matter of "waiting" till im called to enter the program, cant wait. Ill finish up all my pre-reqs next spring, so it would be nice to get in next fall 2010.

sharihamill22- can you tell us how long it took you to get called? also do you feel it goes by how many pre-reqs you have done and gpa rather then sort of having a number given and just waiting til they reach yours.

I applied to Brookdale and will be attending the information session this Friday (June 26th)... will either of you be there? The people in admissions stress that it strictly goes by the date of your information session and then the date of your application. Although it seems that many say if you get your pre-reqs done you move up the list... if this is true.. I only have A&P II and Micro left to take then all my prereqs are finished. I guess only time will tell.

I will be there on friday june 26th. Ill be wearing scrubs since right before the info session i have to take my skills practical for the CNA course. See you there.

ICU123,

Where are you taking you CNA course? I still have to take mine. I e-mailed and called Monmouth Votec. school for the start date and times of their course but have not recieved any information back from them yet.

See you at the session tomorrow!

Brookdale offers the CNA course. Go to the Atec building and go straight into the double doors. Its called Business and Development. I believe the times and dates will be posted soon for the Fall. Sign up fast, they sometimes go quick. I was on the waitlist for the time and date I needed and luckly got called just 2 weeks before start date.

You can email me or AIM at iccul123 if you like for anything else.

That's good to know! I will have to run over there ASAP and check it out. This school counselor I have seen twice now is not very helpful.... yet everyone else at school seems to be very helpful. Thanks for the info!

Email me and I will give you the counselor I use. He has been really good with me and knows a lot. Responds quick to emails and squeezes you in for appointments if he is full, which is most of the time.

are the cna courses for brookdale held on the main campus or at one of the hec's?

Ladii T,

I don't have the answer to your question but... send me a pm and I can give you the phone number for that department. I just spoke with a woman there who was very nice. The fall schedule for all courses (including CNA) comes out Monday morning and that they fill up VERY QUICKLY. It's $900 and you can call up to register or go online. Just thought you should have this information since it's happening quickly.
