Hello all! I read an article a while back about how the hardest class throughout the nursing track is A&P 1. My teacher is the one who I got the article from, and he said he agreed with it. He said that if you can get an A in his class, the rest is a breeze (relatively speaking of course). So I'm wondering what your opinions are on the matter. I am currently a freshman just starting on my nursing track and would really appreciate some input! Thanks a bunch :)
It all depends on the teacher. With my prerequisites, nutrition was insane. Started with 42 in the class and only 14 left standing when the smoke cleared.
This! The A&P I instructor I had was awesome, BUT she had a ridiculous drop rate. I believe it was because of her tough teaching/testing. She rarely tested on rote memorization, you had to know the whys and hows. She told us right out of the gate that she knew most of her students were going into healthcare, so she felt (and rightfully so) that memorizing wasn't good enough. We started with around 85 students, and I believe there were 17 of us who took the final. I will say that here in the final semester of my program she is still my favorite instructor.
I also think every semester feels like the toughest semester LOL! It SHOULD be that way! I thought prereqs were tough until I started nursing classes. The first semester of nursing classes was tough, and then I started second semester, etc., etc. :)
Good luck to you!
