Ye I sat the nclex in london 2wks ago and passed, dying to get to the states, heard the nursing is great there.I'am hoping to go to ny in aug.whats the prospect of getting a job and sponsorship for green card??I dont think the retrogression with the visa applies to us.I've decided to go it alone as the agencies were taking too long. Be Great to hear how things are going for you overthere??

welcome
Retrogresion at the moment is affecting everyone regardless on where you live. For NY even though you have passed NCLEX you will need to do CVS which can take several months and hospitals in NY are not petitioning foreign nurses. Would suggest having a good read on here and be prepared for a long wait

I heard it applied to PIC,anyway what is CVS?I think your wrong there about hospitals not petitioning foreign nurses ,I had a hospital petition without my NCLEX unless its changed in the last few months
CVS is what the NY BON require of foreign nurses even if you have already passed NCLEX it is still a process you have to go unless you used NY for initial licensure. Retrogression at the moment covers all nurses and there are a few of us in the UK that have been caught up in it. There is no schedule A anymore which expediated nurse applications through so we are under EB3 which at the moment no visas available, more news will be in October. If you have hospital you are lucky because there are a few on here who have not been able to find hospital willing to petition.

You are incorrect. Hospitals cannot even start the petition process unless you have actually passed the NCLEX-RN or the CGFNS Exam. Does not matter what you heard, but to be petitioned as an RN via an employer requires proof that you are an RN. And it is by one of these two exams only, not the licensure exam for your country. So not sure how you had the process started. And it also requires written verification from the actual Board of Nursing to be submitted with your petition. Immigration will not even accept the petition without proof that you have passed one of the above exams. Suggest that you take the time to read the sticky at the top of this forum called the "Primer." It contains information that you need, and I suspect that you do not have.
There has been a retrogression in place for all nurses since October 31 of last year, and not just from the PIC countries. That was the previous retrogression.
In order to get a license in the state of NY, you must have a CVS done by CGFNS. It is a special credentials eval and is specific only to NY. It also takes on average about 8 months to get done. We have not seen a hospital in NY petition a foreign nurse in a couple of years without significant experience, or that the student trained in the NY. And most facilities will not even talk to you until you pass the NCLEX exam, and they legally cannot even offer you a job until you have passed the NCLEX. So by stating that you had a facility that would petition without anything is just not happening.
Please take the time to do some reading. There is much information here that you can learn. And to add in to it, there are no visas currently available for anyone, no matter which country that you are from. And no Schedule A either. And no Adjustment of Status if you come to the US to try that route.
