Hi, I'm moving from NC to FL. In NC, I'm enrolled in a non-disciplinary, voluntary program after I diverted. I approached IPN independent of applying for a FL license and IPN took a statement from me weeks ago as part of my intake.I was was advised by my previous attorney not to disclose any prior diversion since I was only being charged with one count. I actually diverted for three years at two previous hospitals in another state but didn't tell that to the NC program. Upon intake with IPN, I told them exactly what I told NC, leaving out my prior use as advised by my then-attorney.
I have since retained anothervattoryney who was who was able to get my case dismissed and file for expungement. With my legal issues behind me, I would like to approach IPN and tell them I had this prior use. Of note, I still live in NC and am not under contract with IPN until I move.
I feel like like I got bad advice from my previous attorney and want to start in FL being completely honest. Nothing that I told IPN at intake wasn't true, I just left out three years of drug use prior to enrollment in the NC program.
Should I tell IPN everything before I go under contract or should I keep my mouth shut? My recovery program demands rigorous honesty but I don't want to hurt myself in the process.
There is definitely something to be said for "Rigorous honesty in all our affairs" it is the cornerstone of healthy recovery . It is unlikely this disclosure would change your contract except that ding so now would indicate that you lied during previous legal proceedings which may affect you legally. Fro what I understand Florida uses the same type of one size fits all program that other states use. Unless not telling cause you to feel as if you might relapse I would likely keep this information to myself. You will be in a program either way.
Hppy
Thank you. Legal reprocussions is exactly why My lawyer told me to hold those cards close to the vest. Since those aren't an issue anymore I was thinking I should come clean. But yes, I'll be in a program. I'm probably in the minority but I need a structured program like IPN. I was a pretty sick puppy before I'll this happened and I don't ever want to go back.
Thanks!
