If I were to be using something for note taking I would prefer something with a full keyboard, such as a laptop. Bigger screen easier for these aging eyes too. I had a first generation iPad for years, and recently also purchased a mini. The first generation was heavier, but much easier to type on than the mini. Since mine is primarily for home and travel "fun" use, I primarily use it for internet, games, and ebooks. I don't think I'd like trying to use it for school or clinical if I were still in school.[/quote']There are blue tooth real full keyboards that come with some cases for both the mini and regular iPad. For me, I just think the smaller one is big enough and I'd love to have less weight and bulk to lug around and maneuver.

That's good to know! I'm gonna go back to store again and take another look! :)

I've never owned an Ipad anything, but I have all my textbooks on my Acer a200. Works perfect. The 10" screen displays more of the page for textbook reading than the Nook Color I was using.
Caved in and downsized to the mini. The keyboard will take getting used to but I am in love!

Have you thought of one of those hybrid laptops/tablets?
It's easier if you plan on taking notes on it. Other than that I would probably get the mini over the regular size one.
It's much lighter to hold.
Also, the newer Asus Nexus 7'' is really nice. I had "i" devises for years and currently switched to Android, and I personally like that you can customize it a lot more...but that of course just depends on your personal preference. :)

My school gave us all iPad minis for the semester. They are awesome! They fit in a scrub pocket, the regular iPad doesn't. We use them on the floor all the time. The school loaded the unbound Nursing app for us too. I love that too. Well worth it.
We are encouraged to use them for personal use at home as well. We just have to delete our stuff before handing it back in.
Also we signed a contract stating we wouldn't use the camera in the hospital.
I'll be buying one when the semester is over.
