Hello, I am wondering if it would be appropriate to invite my preceptor to my pining ceremony and/or graduation party? By the time I graduate I will have completed 120 hours of clinical with her, and she was also my mentor for an externship this past summer. So I feel that we will have gotten to know each other pretty well by the time I graduate. Is it inappropriate or strange to invite her to my pining and/or the party I will have after? I don’t want to cross any professional boundaries.
I don't see anything wrong with it. But if she chooses to not attend, don't be offended. She may see you more as a "professional acquaintance" than a "personal friend" -- particularly if there is a significant age difference between the two of you.
