How about a thread that will allow us to introduce ourselves to those who are new and the new students can do the same.

I am Stephany, 42, mother of 3 children, a son 22, a daughter 15, and a son 13. I am an LPN of nearly 11 years, and I am in my first semester of a five-semester rn program.

yes, at times i have felt not only discouraged but overwhelmed, too. keep your goal in sight and take one day at a time. you can do it!

:uhoh3: hi stephany, i'm completely green, just in the a@p class at college and the facts are all to frightening, i'm discouraged as how to study, have you or anyone felt this way and what on earth should i do . i'm 37 a mother of 2 and a daughter of one!

Hey, gang! New here!

32-year old single mom of one terrific 12-year old son (who, by the way has learned how to cook since mom started school! Kudos, Cody!!). I'm finishing up my last quarter of LPN school after leaving a secure, financially rewarding job making Pringles (really, I made potato chips...and made more money than I will as an LPN. Sad, ain't it?) to fufill my life's dream of becoming a nurse.

Haven't regretted a minute of it, even though I've definitely had doubts about whether I could actually make it or not. Have gained a tremendous amount of respect for all the LPN's out there in the process. I'll never look at them as "just LPN's" again! You are the back-bone of healthcare!! I have 8 weeks left and then onto RN school thru Excelsior, God willing and if clinicals don't kill me!

Hi! I'm new here too.. :)

I'm Laura, 22, single mom to a brilliant 2-yr old little girl, Alyssa. . We are in the process of moving from WA to NC, where I will be starting my first semester in an ADN program next month. I have wanted to be an RN for as long as I can remember and I am so excited that this is finally happening!

lpnalmost and laura, welcome, much continued success to the both of you!

First time posting

I will be entering the RN program Aug 18 and I can't wait!! I'm 21 and will be working on my 2nd Associates Degree. My first degree was in Medical Office Administration, I thought I wanted to work in billing/insurance. The only thing that scares me is that I might kill somebody or catch something. If anyone has any advice about these things please let me know.

I am entering my sophmore year of nursing this fall. I am an nontradtional student in that I am 50 years old ! I have 3 daughters 26, 22, and 15. Nursing is something I have been wanting to do for a long time. I just decided to last year to take a layoff from my job and do it.

Hi!!! I'm a 20 yr old (as of July 12th!!!) BSN nursing student at FL A&M University. I was accepted in to the upper division spring 04 so I'll be entering my second semester this fall. I have a psychology minor that I'm finishing up this summer. I will be an RN in Dec 2005 and I plan to start my career in Hollywood, Fl.

Hi! I am Stacy, I am 25 and starting Autumn quarter Sept 22, the day after I get back from my honeymoon. I am getting married 9/11 (48 days) and I have a wonderful 8 yr old daughter from my 1st marriage. As the countdown to the wedding is on, and I piled on another load of stress (school)...my face is breaking out like crazy - as if I am like 15 - and I either can't eat for days or I am eating like a mad person for days. I had my 2nd dress fitting yesterday, and my dress - which they originally had to take down one size - is real snug now! If I gain one # I will bust out of it. :uhoh3: I am confused and worry myself sick over juggling work & school, whether or not to apply for loans, how many classes to take, etc. So this is my saga, not all that bad. I have a ton to be thankful for. :) I just let myself get so worked up about everything. I have to say, I love this forum. It is the best! I have only been posting here for a week or so, but it is so wonderful to have so many people going through what you are going through and so many people at your fingertips to talk to and connect with. You guys rock!

I'm new to the forum. Married for two years and am transfering from a two year certificate program to a BSN. It will take a whole lot longer (would have graduated this Dec as a RN) but not will probably be another three years. I'm sure it will be worth it though. I was in the middle of clinicals at my previous school but will not start them back until 2006! I do get to take the rest of my gen ed cousres at the nursinf school, so at least that will be some exposure to nusing as i am really excited about getting back into the hospital. anyone else starting clinicals in 2006?
