How about a thread that will allow us to introduce ourselves to those who are new and the new students can do the same.

I am Stephany, 42, mother of 3 children, a son 22, a daughter 15, and a son 13. I am an LPN of nearly 11 years, and I am in my first semester of a five-semester rn program.

Care to share?

hey all!! first year nursing student here. I am 27 years old and finished college in 2000 with a AAS degree in Emergency Medical Science. I worked as a Paramedic for a few years and then lost interest. I finally went back to school

for nursing. It was hard to go back to school after all those years. I go to school at night and work during the day. I like my instructor. well just wanted to say hello and introduce my self

Hey HopeM when you figure out how to manage the day vs. night shift let me know! I worked last fri and sat 7p-7a and then go to school RN-BSN full-time during the week it's hard to get any rest when you have a family and all the wonderful housework/homework!!! I worked full-time nights 4-midnight during the last semester of RN school but it was in a factory setting. I don't mind the nights (things are less hectic than days) but the switching back and forth is hard on my system! Physically, mentally, all of the above!

Will do k9! :) I am hoping this week will help me get things figured out a bit better... have my RN program orientation Thurs/Fri... working Mon/Tues PM (7-7) this week and then again on Sat/Sun. I am hoping they will let us know which day our clinicals will be at orientation so I can start plotting my schedule for next semester (hoping to still be able to hit 32 hours/week... but school has to come first so we shall see). Praying I can get my house in order this week too... goooooooooooood grief it is driving me nuts! :) I have a feeling I'll end up switching to days during the semesters and then doing nights during summer and/or breaks as the back/forth will be tough to do with studying and everything else.
