Introduction Thread---LPN/LVN students!!

Published

I thought we could introduce ourselves on this brand new forum!!

I am Lisa and currently just over 1/2 way through my 12 month LPN program. We are currently on our 2nd semester practicum. 6 weeks at LTC. I am very looking forward to semester 3, which is all acute care/med-surg/mat/peds and a 6 week practicum at the hospital!

At this point, I hope to get hired at the hospital when I'm done. My local hospital does hire LPN's on most wards. I may or may not go back and become an RN, but that decision is a long way away from being made.

I am married, have a 5 year old daughter, 7 year old son. We live in BC Canada. :) :nurse:

hello i am in my second semester of a 15 month lpn program in nj. i love it but its alot of hard work . i am the mother of two boys 6 & 4 i work fulltime on the weekends i am engaged to my kids father who is a great help and i am 26 years old i cant wait to be a nurse.:D

What a cool forum! I am attending an 18 month LPN assocoate degree program program and I am done in Sept. I love it and have already had two job offers. I would encourage anyone thinking of nursing to take the plunge. It has been very rewarding for me already. Thanks to all who make these forums possible.:nuke:

Salutations!

I just started LVN school and am in a 14 month program. I go to school M-F, 20 hours a week. The program is very fast paced and intense however, I study my BLANK off everyday.

I'm married to a very supportive husband and have one child. I feel bad that I don't spend time with them as much as I should but, I know we all have to make this sacrifice temporarily for the sake of our family.

My ultimate goal after I graduate from LVN school is to bridge an RN program and then perhaps get my NP.

Thank God for the internet and for everyone on allnurses.com, for being so helpful and supportive. This forum has thus far helped me tremendously!

Take care and Good luck!

Hello everyone! I have been a lurker for quite some time; however, I have never actually posted. It is nice to have an LPN student forum! I am currently a PN student in PA. I am in a 12 month program, and I graduate in August, so I am over halfway done. I cannot believe it! Time flies so quickly. I have no life, as you all know, but that will all change in a few months! I am so excited to graduate, get my license, and be on my way! I am 29 years old and married, no kids yet. I plan on working a year after graduation, hopefully getting a job with tuition assistance, and applying that to get my RN, probably online. There are some local colleges that offer that program. It's great to have this board to support one another! And to all the future students, you will be stressed at times and ready to rip your hair out, but it is totally worth it! Believe me! Stick with it!!!

I was just sitting here wondering how I could have missed this forum for the past 12+ months!! It's good to know it's new, and I'm not crazy!! LOL. Being in an LPN Program can make you think you are a bit crazy sometimes. It's intense huh?!

My name is Delana. I am in a 10.5 month accelerated LPN Program in Missouri. I have 11 weeks to go until graduation. (This breaks down into 20 more clinical days and 22 more class days!! Amazing huh?!) We are in Med Surg 3, Mental Health, and 2 full days of clinicals each week. We complete Mental Health on Monday with quizzes on 2 chapters and tests over 4 chapters, and then begin Leadership. So far, so good. It's alot of work. I sure hope it's worthwhile in the end. I don't see how it couldn't be. We started with a class of 27, and are at 18 right now. I have applied to a LPN-ADN bridge program that begins 5 weeks after I graduate with my LPN, but it's competitive, and I'm not holding my breath that I will get accepted.

I am 33, and have been married to my husband for 6.5 years. This is the second marriage for both of us....and the last. We are a his, hers, and ours family and have four boys ages 16, 10, 10, and 2. My husband has his Bachelors in Nursing and is in the U.S. Army. We call home wherever his orders take us....but Kentucky is where my heart is.

I can't wait to finish this LPN program and more importantly pass the NCLEX!! It's nice to meet you all. I :redbeathe allnurses!!

I'm so glad this new forum started. Well, I'm a 35yr mother of four that will be starting school in Sept. of this year. I'm enrolled in a 18mth LPN program in Virginia going from 530-10pm at night. I work fulltime at a local hospital scheudling surgical procedures and post-op billing. I've been a CNA for 10yrs and I use that to supplement when I need extra finances. I enjoy :an!:.

Again, Welcome all and good luck to all of you with school.

Hi everyone!

I start LPN classes on May 1. I'm really looking forward to the next year, but NERVOUS too. I've been out of school a loooong time (HS ended in 1990 for me - eeeek!), and math has never been my strong suit.

I am looking forward to meeting new people and making a difference. I have been a stay at home mom for YEARS. My kids are 16,15 & 13. I have been married 7yrs to my best friend. He is my rock!! We also have 3 beautiful Boston Terriers - Daisy Mabel, Mason-Doggy & Gracie.

Good luck to all my fellow "newbies" :yeah:

Welcome, Everyone!:wlcmhnds:

I'm so glad we have our own "space"!

I am on "spring break" this week from my 15 month-long LPN program. I have 2 quarters to go and it's uphill all the way!

We've had one quarter of med-surg clinicals, but didn't get much experience d/t holidays and only one day of clinicals per week. Next quarter, we do pediatrics and maternity.

I am 40 years old, married for 18 1/2 years and have two children ages 12 and 15. This is my second career.

I look forward to getting to know all of you and helping to support each other thorugh our journeys!:nurse:[/quote Hello I am also 40 and am going back and forth with the idea of Lpn school. I have no children yet, but a great husband. I have gone through Medical Assisting training and their is not much out there. I need some advice if I should go on with it?:lol2:

Hello, I have been out of the loop for a while. I think I need some support from others. I was a medical assistant and working (very nasty administrator), I then had to dtop working and take care of my mother who was ailing at the time. My husband is very supportive and thank goodness. I took care of her for 2 years. To the hospital, day or night (thank the lord she only lived 5 miles from me) Back on track, should I continue to go through nursing school for LPN/LVN? I would like to but I am feeling stuck, I lost my mom on Sept. 11, 2007 and I am still sick but I want to go on with my life. I did my best.
