Introduction Letter

I'm writing intro letters to 2 attorneys that I was referred to. It's my first SERIOUS marketing start. I've been getting all sorts of things settled to get my business started up, but the fear of both success and failure has had me doing a lot of procrastinating, which ends NOW. Any good tips for introduction letters? I did the VMI home course and home apprenticeship, so basically going by the guidelines there. The letters WILL go in the mail tomorrow, just hoping for some last minute words of wisdom (or wisdom I can use on future letters). One is to a very experienced attorney, the other one is only a year out of law school, so my letters to both are very different. Experienced, trying to focus on how I can help him out even though I know he's already adept at the medical stuff but this way he can focus on the legal stuff. The new attorney, how I can help him screen his cases and I can handle medical, he can handle legal.

For the initial letter, I plan to include letter, business card and a brochure.

Any other tips? (Or words of encouragement?:) I'm starting to understand why tons of nurses take the classes but only a few actually end up doing the work. It's so much scarier to market yourself than to go apply for a job at a hospital with a hundred RN openings!)

Now, Wooh, that is about the cutest emoticon message I've ever seen!

Too cool. :yeah:

i am having a real hard time putting my introductory letters together. i don't know if i am thinking too much into it or what. i am ashamed to say that i received my certification in august and still have not received any business. i do end up procrastinating because i worry about what i should or should not put in my intro letter. i stress out so much about it that i have 20 envelopes ready to mail with only business cards and brochures in them. i went through the home vmi course, so i received good "training", so why can't i pull it together?!!

  :sniff: :banghead:

if you got your certification in august, you're moving quick compared to me.:) just remember, the hardest part is getting started! (at least that's what i keep telling myself, so i sure hope it's true!)

I am also finishing up my marketing materials. They should be ready to send out next week. I would appreciate some tips on a introduction letter. And here is another questions. If there are 6 lawyers in the firm who are potential clients, to whom do you send packages out to first. I am sure the gatekeeper would notice 6 indentical mailings. Do you flip a coin? Go with the most/least experienced lawyer of the group?

One more questions while I am on a roll, how do you politely ask if there is an LNC already working at the firm when you make pre-calls before sending out your packets. I saw a book Marketing for the Legal Nurse Consultant by Betty Joos. wondering if it was worth the $40 from Amazon, I would gladly buy it if it was worth it.

I am very pleased to have found this forum, I stayed up late the other night reading all of the threads, wished I had that legal software and benefited from many of the answers to previous questions. I completed LNC Stat home study course at the end of the summer and but it took a little while to finalize my marketing materials. Looking forward to sending this out, but understand that I am headed into the slower holiday season.

good question. often, you will have firms with 50 or more attorneys in employ. i try to send to the partners of these firms. this should be easy to find out when you phone ahead of time.

lnc - "thank you for your time. one more question, "has xyz firm utilized a legal nurse consultant in the past?"

firm gatekeeper: "no"

firm gatekeeper: "yes"

firm gatekeeper: "yes, we have one on staff now"

firm gatekeeper: "yes, we utilize lncs often"

firm gatekeeper: "what is a legal nurse consultant"
