Intro to Chem and Anatomy &Physiology in the same semester?

Published

Is it a bad idea to take Chem and Anatomy and Physiology in the same semester at GCU in Phoenix? I don't want to overwhelm myself, but I need to take these courses. Both come with a lab too. Thanks in advance!

Hello.

I did the exact same thing quite some time ago, then I did AP2 with Micro (brutal)

It all comes down to your life/schedule.

It was brutal, but I am single and was not working so I had a full focus on school.

Also, I have a finance degree so this was not my 1st rodeo.

On a side note it is also a good indicator of what nursing school will be like.

I'm taking A&P with Statistics and a Foreign Language but that's till Fall 15 .. but it is not a bad idea if you are gonna focus 100% in your studies .. it is a bad idea if you work full time... my counselor recommended me to take chemistry first and then the following semester A&P together ..

If you are strong in math, then Chem won't be too bad. Just a caveat: there is a TON of memorization involved in both Chem and A&P. You'll really need to budget your study time well.

Good luck :)

I agree with the previous posters it is doable! If that's what you have to do then that's that. A and p will take up a large chunk of your study time since it's one of the hard core science prereqs. Intro to chem will be the also somewhat time consuming. There will be a lot of reading for you to do, stay on top of your schedule for both courses. You have a voice recorder? If not, please get one as it is a handy dandy tool to vamp up your in class notes.

I forgot, save yourself some study time by watching the videos for both A&P and Chem on Khan Academy.

They are extremely helpful and I found when I watched them 1st then read I retained and learned quite a bit better.

Good Luck.

This semester I took A&P I&II flex along with Chem I, human growth and development, and intro to sociology. I managed to pass with A's in everything except a B in chem. It was brutal. Doable, but I wouldn't do it again. If you choose to do it, get a good study partner/group, schedule office hours with your professors in A&P and chem, and utilize a planner. Good luck!
