Interviews

Published

So I recently passed my NCLEX and received my LPN license. I have an interview for a potential job starting out at $23/hour at a beautiful facility. I'm very nervous for the interview and was wondering should I expect general interview questions along with medication questions/nursing interventions/med math questions, or will the DON ask general interview questions?

Specializes in Nephrology, Cardiology, ER, ICU.

Moved to nursing interview help

Specializes in Oncology.

Depending on facility, I interviewed for sub acute rehab for a RN position. I first interviewed with HR personnel with general and personality questions. And then with nursing manager, the questions were about my nursing judgement, working with conflicts - co workers, supervisors and family members, how to deal with certain circumstances - change in labs and conditions from previous shifts. So I answered like first I need to assess before attempt to so anything else.

I was offered a job on spot. But I declined.

Nursing has moved past the typical 'tell me about yourself' type questions and now focuses a lot on behavioral or situational type interviews. these require you to think a bit and have a prepared story. there are lots of threads on here regarding them.

also, i have had many interviews where there is a question like 'you have one patient yelling for you, one call light going off and a patient you know needs help coming off a bed pan' what comes first??

LOTS of great threads on here for interviewing. good luck!

Thank you, very helpful!
