Interviews for Michigan CRNA programs....

Published

Hi everyone,

I have an interview with Oakland University through Beaumont hospital next week. I have done my homework on the University and hospital program, but I am always up for extra tips or advice. Has anyone interviewed here? The session is held in their Surgical Learning Center and they estimated 90 minutes for the interview "process", eek!!!!

I am also waiting to hear whether I got an interview at Univ of Detroit Mercy and the Univ of Michigan Flint programs, so if anyone has tips for them, those are welcomed as well.

Thanks

hello,

I interviewed at Wayne State today.. all i can say is very stressfull....... They pimped me alot on my previous educations, since i have a total of 3 degrees. Hopefully I get in. Still waiting for oakland... when did everyone hear from oakland>????

hey when did you hear from oakland?

i got my application in right on the 15th and still haven't heard anything...

do you have a lot of icu experience?

I got a call, I think the last couple days in September for Oakland. I did not apply to Wayne State because of the pre-req Grad courses....they would have cost me $6000 since I just moved and would have to pay out of state tuition. Have you heard from UM-Flint if you applied? Their deadline was Oct 1, so I am hoping to hear soon.

Thanks for the information, though.

I'm waiting to hear from U of M- Flint. From what the admissions lady told me, they don't really review the apps till the end of Oct, and then interviews in nov/dec. Even though it's been a week since the deadline, I feel like it's been a month...... Let me know if you hear anything from them.

Hi all.

A colleague interviewed and was accepted last year to Oakland University.

She said the interview was intense. There was a test similar to the CCRN you take before the interview. She was accepted and is currently in her first semester. I have heard they like strong GPA's and younger students. Quite the opposite from UD-M. Their interview is about getting to know "who you are". I've heard UM-F's interview is THE MOST STRESSFUL of all. They put you in a room with a CRNA. Challenging test afterwards.

Haven't heard from UM-F yet either.

Good luck! I'm sure everyone will do great.

CVICU: Why did you think they grilled you?

I have an interview on Tuesday. Anyone have suggestions?

Oh- forgot to add. I've also heard that U of M-flint's interview is super challenging. But I've been told by graduates from there that it's supposed to 'break you, not make you'. They do send you to the OR with a CRNA I think before your interview that asks you questions, and give you a test. Although don't expect to do well on the test. Most people get 5/10 right- the best 7/10. So just go and don't be defensive. Just what I've heard. As I've not interviewed, I'm just waiting..... :)

Oakland pre-interview quiz is not hard at all; a few simple common sense questions. Definitely not CCRN material. It was the hand written essay on "what a masters education means to you" that was a PIA when you finish the quiz. It you don't get every question on the quiz right then you better interview real good because the questions are easy.

Has anybody heard any news yet? I am waiting patiently!

My friend got turned down from Oakland, when she called a few weeks ago, they told her if she hadn't heard from them, then she wasn't in. I heard from U of M-Flint a week or so ago. They deferred my application to the final deadline feb 1st. Which means I'm not good enough that they want me right now, but maybe if nobody better comes along.....

Thats about all I know.

I GOT IN! I got accepted to UN-Flint. I am still waiting to hear from Oakland after the interview. They said mid-November for notifications of admission. Good luck to everyone else!

Question...the Oakland interviews just started 3 weeks ago and ended last week. So are you saying your friend didn't get an interview? Because if she called weeks ago...then they hadn't even finished interviews yet......
