Interviewing for the same job twice

Hello I'm a labor and delivery nurse. I've been in L&D for about 9 months. I got hired at a small hospital but would like to work at a bigger hospital with a higher patient acuity because I would like to enhance my skills, knowledge and experience in L&D. I recently applied for a L&D position at the hospital I really want to work for. I thought the interview went well but I didn't get the position. They just posted the same position again and it's been two months since interviewing for this position. I applied for it again with the hopes of getting another interview and landing the job this time My question is what do you do in a situation like this where you are interviewing for the same position twice? How do you convince them you are a good fit for the job? Mind you I did not have all the necessary certifications needed for the job but they were in process at the time and now I have everything that I need for the position. Help! I really want this position.

Specializes in CCU, MICU, and GMF Liver.

It's no big deal interviewing twice. I did it a few weeks ago and got the job. One of the first things the manager said was I remember interviewing you. It was 3 years ago. Aside from that, it didn't come up again.

Go for it!! Best of luck!

As a hiring manager, I would consider the same person twice. It shows dedication and continued interest. I would want to see what you have done in the two months prior. Did you further your studies? Obtain additional certifications? Have patients of a higher acuity? Attend a conference? Basically, I would want to know "why should I hire you NOW?"

Klone I forgot all about that thank you. I work in a network of hospitals so this would actually be a transfer within the company. I have access to her email. I will definitely send her an email.

Properly Seasoned BSN, RN, thank you. This makes a lot of sense. The first time around I did not have everything at first but they were in the works but now I have everything plus I have taken a skills course to learn more about caring for a postpartum hemorrhage patient. I definitely feel like I'm more prepared now.

Do you know if you can transfer, being that you've only been in the current position 9 months? Sometimes facilities have you wait a year before becoming eligible for a transfer.

The company only requires you be in your position for 6 months and not have any write ups and things of that nature.
