Very excited! I have a telephone interview in the morning, and then a face to face in the next couple weeks for an exciting nurse manager position. I've been a nurse for 10 years or so with 5 years being a charge nurse. Any tips, questions I should ask, etc. Thanks!!!

How many FTEs would I be directly responsible for?
How many employees, total?
What has the department's productivity index been for the past few months?
What quality initiatives is the department currently engaged in?
Are there any hospital-wide initiatives (such as CUSP, Studer, Lean Six Sigma, etc)?
What would you want me to focus on or accomplish in the first 3 months? 6 months? 1 year?
Thank you so much!!!! That's a huge help!
Good luck! What department? Is it the same area of nursing in which you've worked as a nurse/charge?
Thanks!! Yes, I've been in my current dept for 8 years and it will be the same area of nursing, but a smaller hospital about 30
Minutes away from where I work now.

I like to ask about engagement scores for the staff. What are the strengths/weaknesses. And also, what does the organization do to support work/life balance. Stepping into management is exciting but you want to make sure its the correct environment. Good luck!!!
