HI ALL,

I WOULD JUST LIKE TO SHARE MY NEWS.......I HAVE MY ENTRANCE INTERVIEW ON NOVEMBER 18TH......FOR MY R.N. ....WHICH I APPLIED TO A FEW MONTHS AGO.......:) STARTS IN AUGUST 2004 :)

ANY OF YOU GUYS GOT ANY TIPS FOR WHAT TO WEAR.....WHAT QUESTIONS TO ASK......ANY LITTLE ADVISE WILL HELP.......I WILL KEEP YOU ALL UPDATED. :)

jayne- good luck and best wishes for your interview. when i had my interview, of course being a male my choice of clothing was different from what you would wear, but "sunday dress" was appropriate for our school. something appropriate for the weather of course but something nice one might wear to church i would say. some ideas about questions to ask: nclex pass rate, clinical sites, etc. one thing i asked my interviewer (after she asked me why i wanted to be a nurse) i felt comfortable enough asking her why she wanted to be a nurse. i am sure more people will come up with some other good q's to ask too. good luck and god bless!

We didn't have to interview at my school! I would think that you should wear whatever you may wear to a job interview. They say that Navy Blue is an excellent choice when thinking of color...it is very conservative. I'd say either nice slacks and a blouse or a skirt and a blouse...something like that.

I'm an HR manager transitioning back into school to become an RN (I start next week!) ... here are my suggestions:

Be early (5 - 10 minutes or so).

Be gracious to whoever greets you (being rude to my receptionist will get you nowhere).

Present yourself well ... shake hands and make eye contact.

Clothing ... says everything! Dress conservatively with something that says you have personal style (a small piece of jewelry, small classic earrings, a beautiful ring, etc). Nice shoes and a nice handbag are a must. Scuffed shoes or an old purse tell me you don't care about how you look (and nurses should look professional).

Smile. Make eye contact continuously.

Think about your answers ... I'd rather have a moment of silence than hear you stumble through a sentence.

Really listen to what the interviewer is asking you ... if you seem distracted, I will feel put out.

Thank the interviewer more than once.

I guess that's all I can think of right now ... my head is not in HR but in Nursing right now! ;)
