Hello, I have an interview soon for an administrative supervisor position, and I would like to ask the allnurses community if you all have any advice for the interview, or for the position itself if I get it. What do you think makes an excellent supervisor? Any advice you can give would be great!
Also, if I get this job, I want to ask my current employer if they will keep me on per diem. I haven't been with them for more than a few months so I am a little worried about asking. Do you have any advice on how to ask them? Thank you!

Be prepared to articulate your management and problem solving skills as well as how you will message between admin and staff.
If you don't have management experience, illustrate your management skills in effectively resolving patient/family issues and how you have demonstrated leadership with good outcomes and conflict resolution on your clinical team.
People often come to these interviews stating their vague aspirations of wanting to help but not selling their relevant skill set and experience as a manager of people in a challenging environment where you must balance patient care, staff satisfaction and business needs.
