Hey, so basically we had one on one interviews, not really a group interview nor a panel. Mine was about 1 hour long with the head nurse, from what I remember this is what they asked:
1: General questions about yourself : Strengths & why this particular unit
2: One difficult situation in the past and how you dealt with it
3: How do you manage stress? As in your having a rough day, how do you act towards others, do you do things differently?
4: So more NICU focused: You are having a conflict with another nurse, how do you approach it ?
5: Parents are not feeling happy with the performance of another health care member and are crying, how do you console them, how do you approach the person in question (how do you act?)
6: Priority based questions: You have 3 patients, one with infiltrated iv, second baby is having resp distress and lastly a doctor is in a urgent situation requiring your help immediately, what do you do, who do you go see first and why?
7: what are some common health issues seen in premature babies
8: how do you do a proper physical abdominal assessment of a baby who is having digestive intolerance etc ...
But they focus a lot on the first few questions because they want to know how you will act under pressure and in difficult situations
hope that helps, it was a while ago, so i tried to remember as much as i can
Hi guys. Congrats for you all. I do have question as well. Are there any assessment tests for new hire RN at INOVA that possibly affect employment status? Couple of my friends had to do the test called PBDS or BKAT at other facilities, but they were asked to resign since they couldn't make it with passing score. Thanks!
