Interview help - "What do you know about us?"

research the hospital...any awards?, any good news lately? usually all this is on their website...if you know it then say it. its never to much if you took the time.

I'd look at their mission statement and/or values statement; you could say soemthing about how they cohere with your own ethos if you like - eg "I really like that the first part of your mission statement is patient-focused, as I think it's sometimes easy to forget that's why we're all here."

Too much information would be "I know that Hospital X was founded in 1878 by the Sisters of Perpetual Sorrow, but only moved to this site in 1957."

thank you!

I would research the mission statement and know if the hospital is magnet status or not. Also it don't hurt to know the hospital's pt population (teaching hospital, community, chest pain center, sickle cell, urban core, non insured, etc).

Agree with all of the above. Look at the community and see what the population is like. If there are areas you are really interested in mention those. See if there are recent publications (check the website b/c most hospitals love to put these up) or look at local newspaper websites. Do you know anyone that works there? That's a good thing to mention if you do. Good luck!

I would look at website to see if they have won awards lately, have any special programs going on, and in general what they do (for instance, not every hospital handles severe burns, or has Trauma 1 designation or has a behavioral unit). Who owns the facility? Is it for-profit or non-profit?
