Interview experiences from others

It depends on where you are applying. A large well known facility is likely to give you more than one interview and have a lot of experience in interviewing. A Dr. office might be a quick conversation about your goals and hobbies. Plenty of info already on this just search for it, but make sure you are prepared and know what to say if you stumble. Practice with someone is my best advice.

I have worked at three different hospitals and the type of questions I normally get were:

1.) How do you handle a difficult family member and/or patient?

2.) Give an example of a difficult family member/ patient and tell me how you handled it.

3.) How you do handle stress?

4.) Questions about different type of insulins.

5.) You see a coworker commit an illegal act, what do you do?

6.) Are you flexible?

Those are just some general questions I can list off the top of my head. hehe But if you are a newly grad, the questions would be stated as "What would you do if this happened..." and so forth.

1. What is your weakness?

2. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

3. You have 2 patients one on a vent how needs to be suctioned and is rapidly desaturating and another patient who is complaining of new onset chest pain. Who do you see first?

I've been on 3 interviews in the past two months. (still unemployed) They all started out with the first being so tell me about yourself. Other questions were

-What are your strengths as a person?

-What is your biggest weakness?

-When did you know that you wanted to be a nurse? or Why did you choose to become a nurse? (it was one or the other)

-How do you motivate people to do what you want?

-On this unit there are some things that LPNs cant do legally. So you will have an RN help you with that. What if one day you have an RN who is just not up to helping you? How do you handle that? What are you going to do to ensure that it gets done? (wording might be a little different but close to that)

-On a scale of 1-10, 1 like a turtle and 10 like a jack rabit, describe your speed on a nursing unit and why

-Describe a situation where you had a difficult patient and how you handled it.

-Was there ever a time that you went above and beyond for a patient?

-Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
