I had an interview for an intership in ICU last week with the hospital that I work for. I'm so excited but I'm trying not to get my hopes up yet! They said I should hear something the beginning of May so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. This is what I really want, it just seems surreal. If I get the internship I will get 6 months training including classes and have to sign a 2 year contract. Wish me luck!
I'm sure you'll love and enjoy ICU. Of course you'll be transitioned slowly by your unit to taking care of more challenging patients. It is quite a demanding role but take every opportunity to learn and enhance your skills. Be pro-active and armed w/ your critical care knowledge, you'll be amazed how much you can do (and w/ team effort) to save someone's life. So always be a team player. As my colleague would say "If you don't join the team now. You'll join the CODE Team later".
Good luck to you! : )
