Getting ready to buy a book for A&P1. Contacted college bookstore and it will set me back close to $400 brand new with the workbook and media. I found an international (in English, but printed in CHINA) and it is almost HALF the price brand new. Just wondered if anyone has had any problems with international versions of their books.
I have heard repeatedly that they contain the exact same content, they just have different covers. I appreciate any feedback. Thanks

I have no experience with internatinal versions, but I say go for it. No reason to waste money. Will you still be able to pick up the workbook and media though? About half the people in my A&P classes used the older version of our textbook because it was exactly the same as our $330 new one (Ours had more realistic model pictures and a few new paragraphs). You could even wait to buy the book and ask the teacher if the older version would work. I've been doing this for over a year now and I save myself $150-$300 a term. This term I bought a old used microbiology book for $15 dollars including shipping and the new version is $250!!! I'm even going to make more money selling this to another student than I bought it for.

I would be wary of international versions. I have seen several where I work and usually there is either information missing or the chapters are in a completely different order. A good example: I had a student who used the international version for the Accounting class I teach. None of the chapters lined up, none of the problems at the end of the chapters were the same as the US version. The student had to get with a fellow classmate at the end of every single class to copy down the differences.
Check out Amazon and see if you can get a copy of the book cheaper there.

The international versions have different covers, but the same content. I was skeptical at first, but I saved alot of money on my Microbiology book. One thing I will tell you is that for the A&P workbook, find out what version your school use, for example the cat version or the pig version. The A&P book would have the same content, just a different cover.

Well I have an experience on the International version. I didn't know there was International vision out there until some people were selling some International versions on Amazon. So right that second, I immediately looked up the books availabilities in Hong Kong online bookstores. They were really selling it, I told my friend bought it for me immediately and air mailed it to me. I saved a half of it at least in each book throughout my college time.
I would suggest that is there any one selling the International versions on Amazon, if there is, see their comments on the book, see if they could use the book for their class or not. Actually, there were some books in International version missing some pages, not a lot, just some, so I borrowed the book from my classmate and photocopied the differences.
At last, like Humulus' saying if your professor would let you use the older version, this is the first choice, otherwise, get an International version then.
