I've been constantly reading about CGFNS CES here at allnurses but most threads date back to 2005-2007 and there are really no recent insights. Thus, i started this and hopefully help aspiring RNs like me to get their Licensure in NV.
(all threads helped me get to where i am currently btw so thanks!☺)
First of- the requirements for Nevada RN for international Graduates can be seen here:
How to apply for RN/LPN Licensure | Nevada State Board of Nursing
But for those who wish to look no further here are as follows:
1. CGFNS CES
2. TOEFL
3. APPLICATION FOR LICENSE IN NV BY EXAM
4. Fingerprint/ Livescan
So here is how i did it.
------------February 2, 2016 I applied to CGFNS for the validation of my credentials(350usd). (im from the Philippines btw) and i printed out 2 forms.
1. Request of TOR from the School i attended
-my school responded quickly and sent my papers March 4 2016 and CGFNS received it March 9 2016.
2. Request for the validation of my Local License
-for my license since I'm not residing in the PI. I had to have someone process the papes for me. I emailed PRC international services and they happily instructed me to have an SPOA( special power of attorney). I went ahead and did the document and had it notarized by an authorizing agent; Sent the papers(form from cgfns, spoa, copy of my license) to PI and had my SPOA go to PRC.
They then instructed him to fill out a paper that needed:
After he filed that he then proceeded to a window and they instructed him to go to fedex located in front of the building to pay the sending fee 1,600php. PRC took 2weeks to send it to CGFNS. ( I actually know of a friend that waived this out; he said that he did not have a license in the Philippines so CGFNS did not ask for it. He now has ATT and will take the exam this 18th of March.) I wanted to be sure so i opted to request for my validation anyway. CGFNS received the paper from PRC march 10.
------------February 6, 2016: i took the TOEFL exam and passed. 104 and 26 in spoken in english.
Passing for toefl is 88 and 26 in the speaking section. Im lucky i made the cut off 26!😂
For the Toefl, i made an account at their website, scheduled for an exam(190usd) and had my scores sent to CGFNS( 9988 institution code) and NEVADA state board of nursing( 9272 institution code).
------------ February 10, 2016
I completed and submitted the Nevada RN application for examination and sent a personal check(100usd) to:
5011 Meadowood Mall Way #300, Reno, NV 89502
After 2 days, i recieved the fingerprint card.
I went to an authorized agent to do it then sent it back to them with a fee of (50usd).
[note]
You can call them directly to ask for the application and Fingerprint card sent to your address.
(I did the fingerprint instead of the livescan because i currently live in California) but if you live in NV just do the LS.
So there.. That's my journey so far.. Now, i am just waiting for CGFNS to send my papers to NEVADA and ultimately receive an ATT from NV.
Hoping for the best and fastest.
How are you guys doing so far?
@Silverdragon102 I am currently here in the Philippines. And I don't know how I can get fingerprint card from nevada? What I understood is, I should submit my application letter to them with the payment and then they will send me the fingerprint card. Am I correct? If not, what is the correct process I should do then? Thank you so much.
@silverdragon. Do I really need to have a residency in any state in USA to be able to take NCLEX exam in Nevada. Coz I am lcurrently living here in the philippines and I have passed my cgfns report, toefl result. And I am about to pass my application letter. I am still sorting out how to get fingerprint card. So I am still qualified to take NCLEX exam even if I am not a resident of any state in USA, but be able to submit the necessary requirements for international graduate. Please help.

Hi everyone im new to this site and im hoping for someone generous to answer to my quiries. Do you have idea on how to get those fingerprint done if you're living outside US? Like in your case amporit? Did you already figure it out? Thank u and hoping for your response.
Need help! I'm also a graduate of the Philippines and I have submitted all of the requirements needed. The last requirement sent to the Nevada State board of nursing was from CGFNS. CGFNS e-mailed me that my report has already been issued last March 08, 2018. It's already been 2 weeks and I haven't received my ATT. I called the NV BON and they said that they haven't received my CGFNS-CES report. I called CGFNS and they told me that they have definitely sent my CES report ☹.
Should I be worried that it's almost been 3 weeks and my eligibility to test or att hasn't arrived? How many weeks did you wait to get your att? Thanks!
Hello Kabayan!
I hope you all are reading this, especially to all those who already passed the NCLEX for RN in Nevada who graduated from the Philippines.
I also graduated in the Philippines and currently a licensed vocational nurse in California, but I've decided to apply to BON in Nevada. I've read all the requirements and instructions for foreign students on how to apply, but my main concern here is: I don't have a local license back home in the Philippines since I didn't take it after I graduated. Now, I'm wondering if the BON of Nevada requires foreign graduates' their local license from the country they graduated at? (since the website didn't mention any details regarding that, but I've heard before that it was mandatory to have it) Can I please confirm if this is true? Before I pursue and apply everything.
Thank you very much! Hope to hear from you all soon.
@gheyish. Honestly Not yet. I submitted my application with payment last January. Hoping they'll mail me the fingerprint card, but until now (April) I do not receive any. Currently I am in the Philippines. I am feeling hopeless and doubtful if I did the correct procedure. Sorry for the very late reply, it's only now that I check this site again. Best of luck, and kindly please update me, how you resolved(if ever) your problem(which is close the same as mine). Thank you. Here is my email ad. [email protected]
Hi! I`m currently in the PH! I just would like to ask if I need to write my full name or the usual shorthand signature I use in CGFNS-CES validation form for my transcript and license? I`m confused. Can you please reply ASAP or email me= [email protected] thank you. Your response is very much appreciated! 😌
