International College of Health Sciences

Updated:   Published

Hi Everyone,

I'm new here and hopefully I'm posting this in the right area. I'm currently an LVN in Ca and looking into a 1 year LVN-RN on-line program based out of Fl. The name of the school is called International College of Health Sciences based out of Boyton Beach, Fl. I was just wondering if anyone here has had some experiences in dealing with this school, currently attending, or could provide any insight into the program. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

This is true! I said it so long ago! This school is a joke! Now they are giving you a letter saying that different states MAY NOT accept your transcripts and California is one of the states noted! It’s about 15 states noted. Guys, please do more research, read the reviews, go to BBB. Make sure this is the mess you want to be involved in.

I’m not giving you this info because I don’t want anyone to get there degree and become a nurse, I’m saying this because I wish someone had told me and be able to make a better decision. I wish you all well and the best on your journeys! ♥️

Do you have the letter that list the 15 states that may not accept the transcripts? Also did they specify why these states might not accept their transcripts?

I was about to go to this school. Even paid for the entrance fee. But I decided to go to a more reputable college where people have completed the course and are now licensed RNs. Good luck to all!

Which college did you decide to go to instead?

I am interested in starting ICHS - Florida in February but I am nervous because of all the negative comments I've seen. Has anyone here attended and graduated?

I started June 2020. Finished the program in November 2021. Passed my NCLEX Dec 2021. There was a delay because of the clinicals but you just have to patient because any nursing school probably had the same problem placing their students to clinical sites since COVID. The school is not that organized. You have to be on top of everything and all your stuff because they’ll hardly check on you. The only time they will check on you is if you miss any financial responsibility. This program is for highly motivated student. I had a lot of frustration and stress because they keep changing stuff last minute but they work with you. I’m not really a complainer so I just went with the flow. I studied really hard for midterms and finals. Did all the required work and passed all my test. Then Done! I don’t recommend this school to everybody because they don’t communicate well with the students. But if you want to get your RN and highly motivated just stick to their syllabus and you’ll get through it. I’m still thankful for this school because it worked out for my situation. I have 2kids and my baby was only 2months old when I started the program. It was tough but doable. (I’m not getting paid for this review. This is from my personal experience.)

What state did you get your RN license?

What was percentage of in person v.s. online clinicals that you completed? I talked with someone at ICHS and they said they have 50% in person clinicals and 50% online clinicals. Which doesn't meet California requirements. California requires at least 75% in person and no more than 25% online clinicals. My biggest concern is paying all this money and by the time I graduate CA will not except my license to be endorsed.

It really depends on a lot people and how you manage your time. In my experience, I had to not work full time. I was constantly doing homework. Lessons from Sherpath can take from 30 mins to an hour and we would get at least 10-14 lessons per week. We also get weekly quizzes with 100 questions that are based on what the lessons/chapters we had. We would get at least 5-10 chapters weekly and if you like to read the book (I stopped reading the book) some pages can take from 20 pages to 40 pages each chapter depending on the content. Remember that with each theory classes you have, there's clinical work also which consisted of Case studies, Shadow Health (which are simulations that can take at least an hour and half every simulation) and documentations in Typhon. So if you're taking Pharmacology, Medsurg 1 and Psych Theory. You are also taking Medsurg 1 Clinical and Psych Clinical (Pharmacology has no clinical). So essentially, you're pretty much doing 5 classes. Midterm and Finals with three classes is no joke because every other day I had midterm/finals in the same week. The pro's of doing 3 classes is that you get to advance faster and also some stuff you learn from Pharmacology can be applied in Medsurg 1 and Psychiatry. The con's are it can be really easy to mix up all the content and information in your head because of the three classes and if you don't do well one on of them then you risk the danger of retaking the class and having that in your record. I suggest to really think about your current priorities and your studying habits. There are people who have the mentality of "I just wanna get it done. I'll take as much classes as I can so I can get it done quick" but the real question is it smart for me to risk my grades just to finish in a faster rate or should I take my time to really know the contents? For me, once I got into the habit of doing things early, it became second nature. It's a lot of work but it can be done. I hope I provided you with some insights. ?

So far it’s been great.  It is all typical issues with any online setting.  My last school had similar issues with tech etc.  The workload is a lot but very clear.  They seem to be doing a lot of work to better the school.  The pharm teacher is amazing.  It is all done on canvas.  There’s one 2 hr zoom a week that you can watch anytime or join live.  There are slides that she goes over via prerecorded video.  There are lessons you click through and do micro quizzes.  And there’s also a 100 Q quiz per week.  If you have to do fundamentals you have to do clinical simulation.  I don’t know anything about that yet but next semester I will be doing it for both classes.  My friend is in those classes already and said she likes the clinical simulation.  Hope this answers some questions.

Hi!

I just started pharm and would love to ask you some offline questions if you are available?

Hello, wondering if anyone who is NOT already an LPN has been able to transfer nursing credits from another ADN program? I have completed all pre recs, pharm, fundamentals/foundations, med surg 1 and 2, and OB/peds. I only need to do psych and the capstone courses.  Also, what is the GAP test and is it only for LPN's? Would they have me test for each of the transferred courses to see if they will accept it or make me re-take each one? Thanks for your help!

Hi! How much is the LVN-RN bridge program at ICHS? 4 or 5 semesters? And how long are the clinicals per semester? I am currently enrolled at Sunrise Nursing School (first day today), but was disappointed that the school won’t let me advance into 2 classes so I can cut the program short to 4 semesters (I am  enrolled in only 1 class in the first semester because of credits for prerequisites I took at a community college).
